About Mjamaa Bank

Mjamaa Bank is a licensed commercial bank in Kenya, proudly regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya. We exist to grow together with our customers, communities, and partners — turning everyday financial needs into long-term prosperity.

Our Foundation

Mission

To provide secure, accessible, and innovative financial services that empower individuals, businesses, and communities to achieve their goals and build lasting wealth — anchored in trust, transparency, and responsible banking.

Vision

To be Kenya's most trusted and forward-thinking financial partner — a bank that everyone can bank on, everywhere, for every stage of life.

Values

We operate on four pillars: Customer First, putting clients at the center of everything we do; Integrity, holding ourselves to the highest ethical standards; Innovation, constantly reimagining how banking can serve better; and Community, investing in the places where we live and work.

Our Story

Founded in 2018 by a group of seasoned Kenyan banking professionals, Mjamaa Bank began with a simple but powerful idea: banking should work for everyone, not just a few. The name "Mjamaa" — which means "family" in Swahili — reflects our belief that a bank's true strength comes from the relationships it nurtures and the communities it serves.

From our first branch in Nairobi's central business district, we set out to build a bank that combined the reliability and security of traditional banking with the convenience and innovation of modern fintech. Over the years, we have expanded across the country, introduced award-winning digital services, and launched initiatives that go far beyond finance — from education scholarships to grassroots sports development.

Today, Mjamaa Bank serves over 500,000 customers through a network of branches, agents, and digital channels. We are regulated by the Central Bank of Kenya (Banking License No. BL/001/2024), a member of the Kenya Deposit Insurance Fund, and committed to the highest standards of corporate governance.

We do not see banking as a transaction. We see it as a relationship — one that grows over time, adapts to changing needs, and helps every family and business build a stronger future. This is who we are, and this is why we grow together.
